On Sunday, November 23, 2003 Sparkling Angel Charities hosted
the second annual "Walk to Heal Hearts." This tribute
walk provided an opportunity for families and friends to walk
together in remembrance of loved ones whom they have lost
or in support of others with heart conditions.
The primary goal of this event is to provide EKG screening
as well as information about Long
QT Syndrome. Dozens of highly trained volunteers from
the local medical community donated their Sunday afternoon
to test vital signs and administer EKG screenings for a total
of 423 people. The volunteers included nurses, technicians,
and other employees of Huntington Beach Hospital plus the
following doctors who were on site to analyze the EKG results
for each participant.
- Dr. Brender
- Dr. Brodsky
- Dr. C. F. Chin
- Dr. DelloRusso
- Dr. LePore
In addition to the 13 EKG machines, there were two echo cardiagram
machines on hand to perform further cardiac tests for selected
individuals if prescribed by our on-site doctors.
Providence Speech and Hearing provided free speech and hearing
screenings for any interested participant.
There were plenty of other activities besides medical testing
for people of all ages on this beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Kids could entertain themselves with games and crafts in the
children's area, explore the Huntington Beach firetruck and
police cruiser, watch a magician, or just enjoy the tunes
from the deejay.
